The drive from Gwinnett County is approximately 90 miles.  From the Town Center Mall area in Cobb County, the drive time is approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes.

From Gwinnett County

  • Take 20 West to 400 North.

  • At 369 West, look for the sign to Matt and Canton to the left.

  • Go right on Ball Ground Road at the Citgo station.

  • Go through the town of Ball Ground.

  • At Country C, go right onto 372 North.

  • Go left at North 5, sign directs to Ellijay.

  • North 5 will take you to I-575 North, which becomes 515 North (Zell Miller Parkway).  From here, pick up with the directions labeled "From 515 North" below.

From Cobb County

  • Take I-75 North to I-575 North.

  • I-575 North will become 515 North (Zell Miller Parkway).  From here, pick up with the directions labeled "From 515 North" below.

From 515 North

  • Disregard all signs indicating left turns to Carter's Lake.  The cabin is north of the lake.

  • When you get to the first light in Ellijay, take a left.  (McDonald's will be on your left.  This is Maddox Road, but there is no sign.)

  • Cross over the railroad tracks.

  • Go across Progress Road.

  • At the light, take a left onto State Route 282.  Burns Chevrolet will be on your right.  You have about 22 more minutes to go from here.

  • Stay on SR 282 for 12 miles.  Enjoy the view = slow down ...

  • Take a left onto Ridgeway Church Rd.

  • Stay on Ridgeway Church Road to Lakeland, then take a right.

  • Take a left at the fork and go through the entrance gate.

  • Take a left at the fork to Hunter Ridge.

  • Go about one mile to Lake Forest Drive and to right.

  • Pass Buck Creek Road on the left.

  • Cabin is ahead on the left at 35 Lakeside Trail.

  • WELCOME to The Lighthouse Cabin on Carter's Lake!
